Here at Eyefreight, we love empowering our clients to improve the efficiency of their primary logistics functions. We’re even prouder when clients are honored for the improvement and proficiency of those logistics functions!
Edwin Wenink, supply chain manager at FloraHolland, was recently named 2014 Logistics Manager of the Year by the Dutch Association of Logistics Management (VLM). The award recognizes innovation, vision, initiatives and results in national supply chains. Wenink unanimously won the honor and was praised for his strategic insight and good tactical choices in key supply chain projects.
Together with Eyefreight, Wenink led FloraHolland toward a modal shift from air to sea and from road to rail transport and inland waterways. He also established HubWays, a neutral information and communications technologies (ICT) platform for the horticultural industry. Hubway’s ownership lies with the growers, buyers, logistics service providers and the ICT partner, improving the efficiency of transport between growers and auctions.
With the help of Eyefreight, FloraHolland has achieved greater efficiency, visibility and control over its transportation flows.
- Eyefreight’s TMS integrates all locations onto one platform, implementing an intercompany stock information/inventory visibility system and enabling all planners to access up-to-date stock information.
- Eyefreight’s Control Tower communicates with carriers in a variety of ways; providing status updates for all departures and arrivals directly from branches, eliminating the need for all manual communications.
- Eyefreight’s planning tool utilizes historical data on transportation demand to give planners better insight of inventory needs. Combined with an easy order creation tool, FloraHolland could create multiple transport orders at once and plan a complete week of transportation.
FloraHolland is the world’s largest flower auction; based in in the Netherlands. The company processes 116,000 commercial transactions a day and has a turnover of approximately €4.4 billion per year.
Congratulations, Edwin, from the entire Eyefreight team!
